Работа Atalanta Fugiens (1617), в основу которой лег миф об Аталанте и Гиппомене, стала своего рода пиком творчества Майера, или, во всяком слуячае, той его части, которая была посвящена музыке, Алхимии и поэзии. Как описывает книгу сам автор, это «новые Химические Эмблемы, открывающие Тайны Природы, пригодные как для созерцания, так и для размышления, в фигурах, гравированных на меди, с прилагающимися описаниями, эпиграммами и примечаниями, предназначенными для воссоздания в душе и звуке пятидесяти музыкальных фуг на три голоса, два из которых приведены к простой мелодии, на которую исполняются куплеты, и все это в целом можно рассматривать, читать, использовать для медитации, понимать, оценивать, петь и слушать не без приятности...» Всякому человеку, знакомому с компьютером, здесь непременно прийдет на ум слово «мультимедия», ведь по такому же принципу создаются современные презентационные CD-ROM и электронные учебные пособия. Естественно, ни аудио-, ни видеозаписи в семнадцатом веке не было, так что роль видеоряда у Майера играют гравюры, а музыка представлена в виде нот, предназначенных для воспроизведения человеческим голосом. В предлагаемой читателю работе есть три основных – с точки зрения Алхимии – персонажа: это бегущая впереди Аталанта, преследующий ее Гиппомен, и Золотые Яблоки, которые замедляют бег героини. Майер выбрал для музыкального отображения сюжета идеально подходящую форму – трехголосую фугу. Само слово «фуга» означает погоню или бегство (стоит обратить внимание на название трактата Atalanta Fugiens). Результатом композиторского эксперимента Майера стало произведение, достаточно уникальное в своем роде; вы можете найти в нем диссонансы, больше не встречающиеся в полифонической музыке того времени – Майер, жестко следуя канону, предпочел не сглаживать эти острые углы. Однако, «тот факт, что композитор не Монтеверди, не только не мешает достижению основной цели произведения, но напротив, этому способствует», - говорит профессор музыки Джоселин Годвин в предисловии к своему английскому переводу Аталанты. Дело в том, что фуги Майера – не развлекательное концертное слушание; это своего рода интеллектуальное подспорье, способствующее более внимательному и глубокому созерцанию эмблем и заложенных в них идей. Излишняя эстетическая привлекательность музыкального материала вероятнее всего помешала бы достижению такой сверхзадачи.Что же касается иллюстраций, то это, несомненно, шедевр алхимической гравюры и апогей ее развития. С точки зрения техники и художественных образов, гравюры Аталанты весьма разнообразны и полистилистичны. Некоторые из них своей перспективой городского пейзажа отсылают к итальянскому Кватроченто; другие своими лишенными выражения лицами напоминают символические работы Карпаччо. Отдельные эмблемы вне контекста трактата весьма точно вписываются в концепцию возникшего на триста лет позже сюрреализма, представляя из себя реалистическое изображение несуществующих объектов. Кстати, следует заметить, что «отец» сюрреализма Андре Бретон проявлял серьезный интерес к алхимической гравюре XVII века, черпая в ней вдохновение для своих произведений.
В целом можно заключить, что Убегающая Аталанта представляет собой неповторимый аудиовизуальный сплав алхимического и мифологического символизма, демонстрирующий динамику процесса Великого Делания на примере развития музыкальной композиции, сопровождаемой иллюстрациями, стихами и прозаическими комментариями. Такой «тотальный» герметический трактат, являясь уникальным в своем роде, в то же время представляет собой, пожалуй, самый яркий пример европейской мысли периода Розенкрейцерского Просвещения.

Увы, тираж закончен, больше не печатается.

Я сам не читал, только название видел.
